The super moon or Perigee, in case you hadn't heard is when the full moon happens when it is closest to the earth. Here in Houston, the view was a little disappointing, more of a Mediocre moon than a Super Moon. I guess in my mind I was expecting to step out of my house and experience a scene straight out of Melancholia (If you decide to watch that movie, I am not responsible for the 2 hours 15 minutes you will lose). The moon was noticeably bigger and definitely brighter, just not as big as I hoped. These shots would have been a lot better if I would have had a lens longer than my 100mm and if there was something else in the frame to really show the size of the moon, but the moon was high in the dark sky. Maybe next time I will have a better lens and vantage point.
Here I leave you with a link to some great shots from all around the world of this year's super moon.
